K. J. ERBEN
8 November 2011 – 14 January 2012


An exhibition commemorating the 200th birthday anniversary of the poet features K. J. Erben not only as a writer, but also as an outstanding representative of the Czech National Revival society of the 19th century. His collection of poems called Kytice z písní národních together with his fairy tales belongs to the Golden fund of modern Czech literature. However, K. J. Erben was also a historian, archivist, folklorist and collector, editor, translator, graduated lawyer, Slavic scholar, and playwright. The breadth of his work and activities testifies to the creative talent and hard work.

DESTROYED CHURCHES OF NORTHERN BOHEMIA
9 December 2011 – 5 February 2012


The exhibition deals with the theme of the liquidation of sacral monuments and sites in Northern Bohemia between 1945 and 1989. The project includes the territories of the former Region of North Bohemia, including the Semily District that nowadays belong to the regions of Liberec and Ústí. Displayed are photographs, not yet published, documents of the Diocese of Litoměřice, and films of the National Heritage Institute. It is organised by the Society for the Renewal of Monuments of the Úštěk Region, the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague, the Philosophical Faculty of University of J. E. Purkyně, and the National Heritage Institute in association with the National Library of the CR.

OTTOMAN HOUSES IN ANATOLIA AND THE BALKANS
15 November 2011 -31 January 2012


A display of photographs by Kateřina Vytejčková presents houses from different, geographically distant areas that had been for long part of the Ottoman Empire. The houses come from the period of the Late Modern Agens and their architectural design was influenced by many factors arising from the cosmopolitan character of the Ottoman Empire. The photographs were taken in the period of 2006 – 2010 during the study trips through Anatolia and the Balkans.

MY LIFE IN SCIENCE
MILADA PAULOVÁ (2 November 1891 – 17 January 1970)
4 November 2011 - 7 January 2012


An exhibition held on the occasion of the 120th birthday anniversary of a Czech historian and specialist in Byzantine studies, first woman Professor in Czechoslovakia, i.e. the first woman teaching at Charles University. The exhibition is organised by the Slavonic Library and the Slavonic Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
Authors of the exhibition are Lubomíra Havlíková and Ivana Srbková.
