THE PARIS FRAGMENT OF THE CHRONICLE OF DALIMIL
The Tapestry Replica by Věra Mičková
March 16 – May 20

Twenty beautiful illuminations inspired the textile artist Věra Mičková from Olomouc to create their replicas, it means to transfer the lines of Italian medieval illuminations in vowen tapestries. She worked on this project between 2010 and 2011. After an exhibition in Olomouc, the collection is now presented in Prague. Twenty tapestries 70 cm high and 100 cm long feature scenes from early Czech history as they are recorded in illuminations of the Paris Fragment of the Chronicle of Dalimil from the 14th century. The fragment was acquired for the National Library of the Czech Republic at auction in 2005. Its artistic copy is on display, too.

OURS OR ALIEN. Written Culture at the Balkans and Central Europe in the Middle Ages.
EMBARK Project

12 April – 31 May 2012

EMBARK is a twenty-month project, conducted between 2010 and 2012, which is funded through the European Programme Culture 2007-2013. The Project is coordinated by the National Library of the CR, the partners involved are the National Library of Serbia and the Institute of Bulgarian Language, Sofia. Its main goal is to provide access to digitised historical literary documents from the area of the Balkans in Manuscriptorium Digital Library. There are three simultaneous exhibitions organised within the Project, in Prague, Beograd, and Sofia, all on the theme of the Balkan cultural heritage, mutual relations with Central Europe and reflection of the Balkan culture in manuscripts and early printed books from both regions.
A catalogue with essays on this theme was published on the occasion of the exhibition and a final scientific conference is held in Sofia in April 2012.

Exhibition corridor, ground floor, Monday to Saturday: 9 am – 7 pm
