The General Slavic Section (A)
The general Slavic section comprises titles dealing with the mutual relations between individual nations, titles whose content exceeds the geographically defined national region, Germanoslavica, Byzantoslavica, Baltoslavica, Romanoslavica and general Slavic publications including works on Slavic archaeology and prehistory, ethnography and folklore, or the Old Church Slavonic. It further contains works from other disciplines of social sciences of relevance to the study of history, the cultural, political and economic development, but especially of the languages and literature of the Slavic nations. It includes works by excellent Slavic philologists since the beginning of Slavic studies: one should mention at least Dobrovský, Šafařík, Kopitar, Miklošič, Bodjanského, Jagić, Potebnia, Leskien, Fortunatov, Vasmer, Vaillant, Vondrák, Weingart, Meillet, Sobolevskii, Niederle, Lehr-Spławiński, Murko and many others. One can also find here the essential Slavic periodicals (Archiv für Slavische Philologie, Le Monde slave, Zeitschrift für Slavische Philologie, Die Welt der Slaven, Zeitschrift für Slawistik, Slavic Review, Slovanský přehled, Slavia, Slavianovedenie, Slavia Orientalis etc.). There are numerous anthologies of a broader thematic scope, proceedings of Slavic congresses and conferences as well as books dealing with the Slavic area as a whole.
