The next General Director of the NL
Minister of Culture of the CR Lubomír Zaorálek has appointed Tomáš Foltýn as the next General Director of the National Library of the Czech Republic ( hereinafter NL). Mgr. Tomáš Foltýn has, until now, held the position of the Director of the Collections Management Division. Until the end of April, the NL will be managed by the current General Director Vít Richter, who leads the NL since July, 2020, when he was appointed by Minister of Culture Lubomír Zaorálek after the dismissal of M. Kocanda from this position in connection with non-transparent public procurement for IT projects.
Over the next three months, T. Foltýn will complete a scientific project, he is currently leading in the NL and he will also be preparing for his new role, which he is to také over in May this year.
„I am glad that the National Library will be run, after many years, by a professional librarian, an expert, who knows it like few others and has a clear idea of where and how this really important state institution to move and to modernize it. He also has managerial experience, since he managed a large and important division of the NL and, at the same time, he participated in and led a number of international research projects on behalf of the NL,“ said Lubomír Zaorálek about the next general director of one of the main state contributory organizations of the Ministry of Culture of the CR.
